Your Schlichtbunt® stencil – Application & Tips

We’re so glad you chose a Schlichtbunt® stencil!

Each stencil is lovingly designed and handcrafted by Schlichtbunt® (Özlem Sjuts).

To make sure you can enjoy it for a long time, here are some helpful tips and tricks.

Preparation – Getting your stencil ready

✨ Your stencil is delivered unweeded, meaning you’ll prepare it yourself:

• Carefully remove all the cut-out parts.

• Keep any reusable pieces in the Schlichtbunt® collection pad – perfect for safe storage!

• Our stencils are self-adhesive and reusable – use them again and again.

Let’s get started – Colors & Materials

Once weeded, your stencil is ready to go! These materials work especially well:

• Watercolor paints

• Ink

• Pastel chalk

• Stamping ink

💡 Tip: Avoid working too wet to prevent paint from seeping underneath the stencil.

Care Instructions – Keeping your stencil in shape

To make sure your stencil stays beautiful and functional:

• Peel carefully: Gently remove the stencil from the backing or surface to avoid tearing.

• Clean right after use: Dab off paint with a dry or damp cloth or rinse under running water.

• Water-based paints clean off easily. Waterproof paints may leave stains, but this won’t affect performance.

• Test your paper first! Some paper types may tear when removing the stencil. Smooth watercolor paper or Bristol board are ideal.

• Avoid heat! Do not place the stencil on a heater or in direct sunlight – it may warp or lose its stickiness.

Important Notes

• Schlichtbunt® is not liable for damage to surfaces (e.g., paper, plastic, fabric). Always test on an inconspicuous area first.

• A little color bleeding is normal. Ensure the stencil lies flat to prevent paint from spreading underneath.

• Especially delicate designs may not fully adhere – this is normal and not a defect.

• Adhesive residue from production may occur – it’s usually removable and doesn’t affect usability.

Our stencils are not mass-produced – they’re carefully made in small batches.
